Monday was labor day and we (sans brandon:() stayed the weekend at my parents house. B did come up for a little bit on Sunday afternoon though so that was good. I got up early Monday and went on a run up petty lane and down around through the hollow. and I felt so good and it was beautiful and the sun was just coming up and then I went out on the basketball court and soaked in the beauty that is Cove while I stretched and felt so glad that my parents live there and that I can go visit and feel the peace of that pretty little place. We stopped in brigham on the way home and got nectarines and cucumbers for pickling and green beans and saltwater taffy and sang really loud to the tracy chapman CD that has been in my car all summer, with the windows rolled down and the warm september sun coming in. I really love that my kids can belt out "there is friction in the space between......" and "she had a fast car" with me. it makes me feel good clear though.
Newly potty trained Graham gets asked a lot of he needs to use the potty. and he HATES it. and the other day when I asked him if he needed to use the potty he just started bawling and said, "I just fweak out evwy time you ask me to go to the bathroom. I don't need the bathroom and i'm just fweakin out that you keep askin me that!!!!!!" I had to go in my bedroom fast so i could laugh and not hurt his feelings. that little fweak out made my whole morning.
now for a few random pictures; one day I was trying to convince gray that it really was time for a haircut. I told him it was so long I could braid it. That had clara curious so we convinced him to let us try and then she convinced him to pretend just for two second that he was her sister and put on one of her dresses (!!) and he did it! And then I gave him a kinda crummy haircut:( what a good sport
I love this one of leah for two reasons. A - she reminds me so much of Clara in it and B - she has her little denim romper on that I wish with my whole heart that she would fit in every day for the rest of her life.
One night we were out playing in the dirt and I went inside for a second and came out to find that graham had turned on the hose - again - and dirt became mud and then as I was looking down at the silly pictures I was taking I looked up to see leah trying out her new bubble blowing skills in the mud puddle...... and then I got these most wonderful, treasure my whole life, muddy baby pictures. thanks graham for making such a big mess
she is the very best ever. and can i say how well she takes being hosed down? Every one of 'em cries and whines when they are forced to strip down on the back steps and endure the hose....except leah! I really kinda think she likes freezing cold water down her back. what a girl. I just had flashbacks of sneaking in the side door and down to the basement shower after playing in the plot ponds as kids. everybody else was out crying while my mom hosed them off and I was down in a nice toasty shower for a good 30 minutes! naughty....
