harvest






I'm amazed sometimes at how messy my kitchen can be when I'm trying to process all the bounty from our yard.  Holy smokes.  We got a bunch of grapes this year from the kaysville house, so we made grape juice too.  I made it once several years ago from the grapes at our house in smithfield and it was gross - this year turned out much better.  We also got a ton of apples and pears and made 12 quarts of apple sauce and some pear juice and fruit leather and freezer full of tomato sauce and veggie marinara and pesto and pizza sauce and grated about a billion zucchini to freeze.  I've realized you can put a cup or two of grated zucchini in about everything we eat and nobody seems to notice it's there.   My kids were good little helpers and worked right by my side the whole time.....or maybe they helped a little and watched too much tv - either way, it got all done!

  1. I love harvest time!! Canning takes so long but is such a fulfilling process. It is so fun to see what people grow in their gardens and then so see what they do with them. Miss ya!
